Finding Peace in the Chaos
This week has been another challenging one for me to stay focused. Between the endless news cycle, planning for what’s ahead, and the usual busyness of parenting, I’ve felt a little overwhelmed.
I’ve said before that I often preach to myself as I prepare these sermons in our current series, Season of Rest. So, when I read these words from John 14 on Tuesday, it felt like God knew exactly what I needed to hear. Jesus says:
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)
Boy, did I need to hear those words. They reminded me how important it is to put my trust in God rather than in others, to take a deep breath, and to remember that Jesus is with me in the midst of all the chaos.
Last Sunday, I preached about the idea of putting God at the center of everything we do. Some days, that feels easier said than done. But when life feels like it’s spinning too fast, the best thing we can do is pause, open our Bibles, and spend time with God. Resting in God—truly making space to hear God’s promises—is how we find the strength to keep going. That’s precisely what happened for me on Tuesday when I read these words.
So, here’s what I’m holding onto this week: God’s peace, even in the chaos. I hope you’ll join me in finding those moments to rest in God’s peace. Whether it’s a few minutes of prayer, reading scripture, or just sitting quietly with God, those moments have the power to turn our worries into something holy.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we continue our sermon series!
